Authorizing a Representative
- About This Service: You can officially authorize another person (a representative) to conduct a range of financial and non-financial activities on your behalf at any of our branches.
- How It Works: To authorize someone, you must complete an “Authorization of Representation” form. All transactions carried out by your representative will be legally considered as if you performed them yourself and will be conducted under your name.

- Payment Methods: Your representative can use your cash, debit, or credit cards for transactions, as specified by you on the authorization form.
- Authorization Period: The authorization can be set to be valid until a specific date or remain active until you provide further notice.

- Western Union: Through our partnership with Western Union, a global leader in payment services, you can send money to over 500,000 locations worldwide.
- Online Money Transfer: Use our mobile apps to send money 24/7 from home, the office, or on the go.
- Track Your Transfer: You can track the status of your transfer through our website or app.
- Transfer Speeds:
- Regular Transfers: Funds are usually available for cash pickup within minutes.
- “Next Day” / “2 Day” Service: Funds are available for collection after 24 and 48 hours, respectively.
- Account-Based Transfers: These generally take up to 3 business days.
- Mobile Wallet Transfers: Often available within minutes.
- Note: All timelines depend on the paying agent’s operating hours and regulatory checks.
- SMS Notifications: We may offer free SMS alerts to notify the Sender when money is collected or the Receiver when it’s ready for pickup. Standard carrier charges may apply, and delivery by third-party providers cannot be guaranteed.

- Important Usage Information:
- Currency Conversion Order: If you don’t have enough funds in the transaction currency, the card will automatically use funds from other currencies in the following order: QAR, USD, GBP, EUR, CAD, and AUD.
- Merchant Pre-authorizations: Some merchants, like hotels, cruise lines, or car rental agencies, may estimate the final bill and temporarily hold an amount on your card that is greater than your purchase. This amount will be unavailable to spend until the final transaction is settled.
- Prohibited Uses: The card cannot be used for money transfers, accessing or purchasing goods from adult or gambling sites, or for any other unlawful activity.
- Managing Your Card:
- Reloading: You can add money to your card at any participating Alfardan Exchange branch in Qatar or through our mobile application.
- ‘My Account’ Portal: Register your card online in the ‘My Account’ section to check your balance, view your transaction history, move funds between currencies, and update your personal details.
- Card Security & Liability:
- Protecting Your Card: You must sign your card as soon as you get it and do everything you reasonably can to keep your card and PIN safe and secret.
- Customer Liability: You will be liable for all losses if you have acted fraudulently, failed to use the card according to the agreement, or failed to notify Card Services without delay if your card is lost, stolen, or misused.
- Card Replacement & Cashing Out:
- Lost, Stolen, or Damaged: Contact the 24/7 Card Services helpline immediately to cancel the card. They can help arrange for a replacement card or emergency cash (subject to availability).
- Card Expiry: Once your card expires, you can visit any participating branch to cash out any remaining funds.
- Cashing Out Early: If you no longer need the card before it expires, you can withdraw the remaining balance from a Mastercard ATM or visit a branch to have your balance refunded (fees and exchange rates may apply).
- 24/7 Card Services Helpline:
- Purpose: If your Travel Card is lost, stolen, or damaged, you must report it to the dedicated Card Services team immediately to protect your funds. The team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You should also call if you notice incorrect transactions or believe your PIN has been compromised.

Travel Card FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
- What should I do if my card is declined?
- First, check that you have enough money on the card for the purchase and that you are using the correct PIN. Also, ensure the merchant accepts Mastercard. If you are at an ATM, it is recommended to choose the ‘Credit’ option if prompted.
- What if I don’t have enough of the local currency on my card?
- The card is designed for flexibility. If you don’t have enough of the local currency, it will automatically use funds from the other currencies loaded on your card to complete the transaction. The order of currency use is: QAR, USD, GBP, EUR, CAD, and AUD.
- Can I change my PIN?
- No, it is not possible to change your PIN. However, you can get a PIN reminder at any time by calling the 24/7 Card Services helpline.
- Can I use my card to shop online?
- Yes, you can use your card to shop online at any merchant that accepts Mastercard. For your security, you may be asked to provide the 3-digit security code from the back of the card and complete a 3D Secure verification step, which may involve entering a one-time password sent to your registered mobile number.
- What should I do if I see a transaction I don’t recognize?
- You should check your transaction history regularly through the ‘My Account’ portal. If you notice a transaction that is incorrect or that you do not recognize, you must notify the 24/7 Card Services team immediately (and no later than 30 days after the transaction date).
- How do I close my card and get my money back?
- If you don’t want to keep your card for another trip, you can withdraw the remaining balance from a Mastercard ATM or take your card back to the branch where you bought it to have your balance refunded (minus any applicable fees).

Qatar Airways Avios Rewards Program
- Availability: You can earn Avios on eligible transactions at any of our branches across Qatar and through our digital channels, including the mobile app.
- Eligibility:
- The program is available to individual customers who are valid members of the Qatar Airways Privilege Club.
- You must provide your own valid membership number at the time of the transaction. Using a number belonging to someone else is not permitted.
- Transactions made for commercial or business purposes are generally not eligible.
- How to Earn Avios:

- QR 5,000 – QR 10,000 → 50 Avios

- Cross-Border Money Transfers (Remittances):
- Important Conditions & Rules:
- Avios will be credited to your Privilege Club account within 7 days of the transaction, provided your membership number is accurate.
- Avios earning is calculated per transaction and is not cumulative. Intentionally splitting a larger transaction into smaller ones to earn more Avios is not allowed.
- Avios cannot be transferred, sold, or exchanged for cash. Once credited, they cannot be reversed.
- Program Policies:
- We reserve the right to withhold Avios for any transactions that are detected as fraudulent, suspicious, or non-compliant with our policies.
- Alfardan Exchange may modify, suspend, or terminate the Avios rewards program at any time without prior notice.
- We are not responsible for issues related to Avios redemption or policies governed by the Qatar Airways Privilege Club.
Online Money Transfer (Mobile Apps)
Alfardan Exchange App
- Registration (New Customers):
- Download the app from the Play Store or App Store.
- Enter your QID. You will then be prompted to enter your mobile number and an optional email address.
- Verify your mobile number using the OTP (One-Time Password) sent to you.
- Follow the in-app instructions to take a photo of the front and back of your QID and a selfie for verification.
- Provide any additional information required.
- Create a 4-digit PIN for security. Your profile will undergo AML checks before you can use the app.
- Registration (Existing Customers):
- Download the app.
- Enter your registered mobile number and date of birth.
- Our system will automatically verify your QID.
- Create a secure 4-digit PIN to complete your registration.
- Creating a Beneficiary:
- Select the currency and country you are sending to and tap “Send Now”.
- Tap “Add Beneficiary” and choose the payment method (Cash Pick-Up, Bank Transfer, or Mobile Wallet).
- Enter the beneficiary’s details. Once saved, they will appear under “Beneficiary Management” for future use.
- Sending Money:
- Choose your payment method and select a beneficiary.
- Enter the amount you wish to send, the purpose of the transfer, and the source of funds.
- Review the transaction details and agree to the User Agreement.
- Choose your payment method (Qatari Debit Card, Ooredoo Money, or Apple Pay) and enter the required details.
- Verify the transaction with the OTP sent to your mobile number. You will receive a digital receipt instantly.
Western Union App
- Overview: In partnership with Western Union, you can send money to over 200 countries 24/7, with fees starting from 15 QAR.
- Registration & Verification:
- Download the Western Union app or register on the wu.com web portal using your Qatar mobile number.
- Verify your mobile number with the OTP provided.
- You can then verify your identity either by visiting an Alfardan Exchange branch or by completing the online verification, which involves confirming your QID details and address, and taking photos of your QID and a selfie.
- Sending Money:
- Log in to your profile.
- Choose the destination country, transfer amount, and delivery method.
- Confirm the transaction details and pay with a debit card issued in Qatar.
- After a successful payment, you will receive an MTCN (tracking number). Share this number with your receiver so they can collect the money.
- Transfer Limits:
- You can send up to 34,500 QAR (approx. 9,500 USD) per transfer.
- The weekly transfer limit is 50,000 QAR.
AML & Compliance Policy

- We are fully committed to operating with integrity and complying with all applicable laws and regulations to combat money laundering and terrorism financing.
- Our policies are designed to meet local legal requirements and international standards, such as the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations.
- We have a designated Compliance Officer and a specialized team to oversee our compliance framework.
- Know Your Customer (KYC) & Due Diligence:
- We have strict “Know Your Customer” (KYC) procedures to identify and verify all customers. We physically check and retain copies of valid identification documents.
- Customer Due Diligence (CDD) is performed to understand a customer’s profile and ensure their transactions are legitimate.
- For higher-risk situations, we conduct Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), which involves taking additional steps to verify a customer’s information and the source of their funds.
- Monitoring & Reporting:
- We use robust monitoring systems and risk-management tools to detect and prevent suspicious activity in real-time.
- Our employees are trained to identify and report any suspicious transactions to our Compliance Department for review and, if necessary, reporting to the relevant authorities.
- Staff Training & Awareness:
- All employees, including senior management, receive comprehensive and ongoing training on our AML & CFT policies.
- This training ensures our team is familiar with their legal responsibilities and can effectively identify and manage risks associated with financial crime.
- Record Keeping:
- We securely maintain all transaction records and customer identification documents for a minimum period of 5 years, as required by law.
- We are committed to maintaining the confidentiality of all customer information.
Fees, Payments & Foreign Exchange (FX)
- Transfer Fees: All fees are shown to the Sender (the person sending money) before the transaction is finalized. The Sender is typically responsible for paying all fees.
- Payment Method: You can pay for transfers using a Bank Card (a debit card from a Qatari bank) or your bank account.
- Exchange Rates:
- Payments are normally made in the destination country’s currency.
- Our exchange rate is based on commercial interbank rates plus a margin and is updated multiple times a day.
